To understand how fabulous this trip will be, you need to understand a bit about your guide. Carlos was born and raised in Cusco. As a boy, Carlos hiked through the jungles near Cusco with his mother, a traveling teacher to the isolated Quechua children. He is half Quechua. He knows the area and the people. This foundation inspired his love for the rich history of the Incas and the culture of his people. Every question receives a knowledgeable and passionate answer (and perhaps an animated story!) Your stay will be enriched by his understanding of the local traditions and the evolution of Peruvian society long after your tour ends. It is his endless love for people, his kind and caring manner, and his quick humor that earns him good reviews.
If you are interested in agriculture, this retreat is for you! Learn about the Inca farming techniques based on altitude (as opposed to seasons). Higher altitude: Potatoes (learn about 20 varieties of the approx 3,500). Lower Altitude: Fruits, vegetables, coffee, coca plants, chocolate, and corn (learn about 5 varieties of the 1,800). Enjoy community: eat and stay in Quechua villages in rustic but comfortable accommodations. Experience life with them while learning about agriculture, alpaca, farming, and native medicinal herbs. The trip also includes Machu Picchu, hot springs, and much more. Savor our attention to service and passion to please from when you step off the airplane to when you depart.
