Get to know about 200 species of orchids, moss, grass, and bamboo—how they’re cultivated and how they can heal.
This 4-day tour provides you the opportunity to discover and learn about the amazing plants of the Andes that are grown, cultivated, and harvested for their remarkable healing benefits.
Our adventure begins in the main square Cusco where we will meet before traveling by road via arranged transportation to Hydroelectric. From here we will transfer by train to our destination Aguas Calientes. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to see many species of birds and maybe some other wildlife. About 5:00 pm we will arrive at the Ecological home where we leave our bags and take the cameras as we walk through the town of Aguas Calientes to see the best highlights. We then go to a nice eco restaurant for dinner and rest.
Our day will be packed with great adventures. After breakfast, which will be served at 6:00 am, we start out with a 1-hour walk through the amazing path to rich Mandor Waterfalls. Here in Aguas Calientes, we have the opportunity to observe many species of birds along with other wildlife such as lorikeets, parrots, and spectacled bears. Our guide will also show us the varieties of plants in this region and the healing purposes in many of them.
After lunch at Aguas Calientes we will be heading out to our next excursion: natural Hot springs that date back to the Incas who first used this sacred area. Our evening after dinner will wind down with a cultural demonstration of the daily way of life for a traditional eco-living family.
After breakfast, we wait in line to take the bus headed to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu. We go in at 9.00 am and visit the most amazing places and temples that are steeped in Inca and Quechua culture.
We will return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and then we will visit the butterfly hatchery. Later in the evening, we will have some free time visiting a local bar for cocktails tasting.
After breakfast, we will have a lesson on plants from 9:00 am until 11.00 am followed by some free time after lunch at 12:00 noon. We will spend some time with our host and say goodbye to the family before taking the 3:00 pm train to Ollantaytambo train station. From there, a van will take us to Cusco in 1 hour 30 minutes. We should arrive back in Cusco by 6:00 pm.
